Ingredients

Smoothie
  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats (40 g)
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice (240 ml)
  • 2 cups packed baby spinach (60 g)
  • 1 medium ripe banana, sliced and frozen
  • ½ cup frozen mango chunks (80 g)
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt (120 g)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 3 to 4 ice cubes (optional, for a thinner, colder smoothie)

Equipment

  • Blender; measuring cups; 2 glasses

Method

  1. 1. Soak the oats. Add the oats and milk to a blender. Let them sit for 5 minutes to soften.
    2. Add the rest. Add the spinach, frozen banana, mango, yogurt, vanilla and honey, if using.
    3. Blend. Blend on low for 10 seconds, then on high for 45 to 60 seconds, until completely smooth with no green flecks.
    4. Adjust. Taste and add more honey if needed. For a thicker smoothie, add a few ice cubes or more frozen fruit. For a thinner one, add milk 2 tablespoons at a time.
    5. Serve. Pour into two glasses and serve right away.
